NY Knicks guard J.R. Smith gets fined for Twitter photo

New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith was fined $25,000 by the NBA after posting what the league called "inappropriate pictures" on his Twitter account (@TheRealJRSmith).

The guard, known for his deadly three-point shot, tweeted a photo of girlfriend/video vixen Tahiry on a bed watching an NBA game in a thong late Thursday evening (March 8), and it spread across the Internet.

After the league caught wind of it, they ruled that the action was against its conduct policy and disciplined Smith with a fine.

In addition to the controversy, it also sparked some back-n-forth banter between Smith and the model's ex-boyfriend/rapper Joe Budden. The pair exchanged tweets after Smith dropped the photo, and eventually Smith responded with: "Sorry for my last tweet @TheRealTahiry n @JoeBudden I see yall will never be done so I'll step aside and chalk this one up #koldGame."
It was unclear if the two were serious or if it was playful banter, but shortly after, Tahiry chimed in, expressing her frustration over the photo being tweeted, but admitting she thought it was funny as well.

"I'm so pissed Tweeps. Imma choke @TheRealJRSmith .. he thinks this is the funniest sh## ever. so pissed but can't stop laughing," the model wrote (@TheRealTahiry).

Following the backlash, Smith told reporters Friday (March 9) that he regretted doing it. "I didn't know it was going to be as big a deal as it is now," Smith said. "I definitely regret it. Anytime I do anything that takes away from our team, I'm definitely going to regret it."
Smith has since deleted the post and photo, but it's still making its way around the blogosphere (see the NSFW photo here ).

He later posted a message directed to Tahiry apologizing: "Things are being taken (too) far sorry @therealtahiry."
